The DAISY Foundation: Thanking nurses for 20+ years
The DAISY Foundation was established in memory of J. Patrick Barnes in 1999. As the family came to terms with Patrick’s diagnosis, they were continually impressed by the kindness and compassion shown to their son by staff nurses. Recognizing that nurses often serve as the unsung heroes of healthcare, the family created The DAISY Award® for Extraordinary Nurses to honor nurses who provide extraordinary compassionate care.
Since then, more than 200,000 nurses around the world have been honored with the DAISY award in recognition of their dedication and hard work.
