How Caroline cultivates compassion
About Caroline Caroline Bunce’s professional career has been a remarkable journey filled with determination, resilience, and a passion for dental hygiene. Born in Jakarta, Indonesia, she moved to the United States at nine, not knowing any English. “Growing up, Indonesia is a third-world country, and we were not rich. But I was rich in so many ways. I always tell my students, ‘You know, looking at me, you wouldn’t know that I, you know, did not own a toothbrush until I came to the United States.’” Caroline’s career path took an unexpected turn when she joined the Air Force. Originally planning to pursue a different field, circumstances led her to become a dental assistant. Little did she know that dentistry would find her and become her true calling. I’d like to think that dental hygiene found me. I didn’t realize that was what I wanted to do. During her career in the Air Force, Caroline’s dedication and passion for dental hygiene became evident. She seized opportunities to develop her skills, mentor others, and take on leadership roles. Her diverse experiences, including teaching hygiene and developing curriculum, broadened her perspective and made her a versatile educator. After serving in various locations, Caroline retired from the Air Force and transitioned to a role as a program director at a dental hygiene school in South Carolina. Caroline faced the challenges of maintaining her license and tracking continuing education (CE) credits. Before CE Broker, she had to meticulously document her CEU activities and keep physical folders to prove compliance in case of an audit. Moving frequently due to her military service added another layer of anxiety, as she had to ensure the safety of her important documents. There were some files I would take with me on my carry-on luggage, but the ones that were older, I would get shipped with my household goods and prayed that it didn’t get lost overseas. How has Propelus helped? When renewing her license in Florida, she discovered the platform and its ability to streamline the process. CE Broker allowed her to upload and self-report her CE credits, ensuring they were counted and tracked accurately. It also simplified the license renewal process, as she only needed to click a button for the system to notify the regulatory boards of her compliance. Introducing CE Broker relieved Caroline’s anxiety and provided a sense of security. She no longer had to worry about misplaced documents. As Caroline’s career flourished, she eventually returned to Texas and accepted a position as a Dental Hygiene Director for a for-profit college, Concorde Career Colleges. Her determination to make a difference in the field has led her to advocate for anesthetic delivery within the scope of dental hygienists’ practice in Texas. Caroline’s professional journey is a testament to her unwavering commitment to excellence. From her humble beginnings in Indonesia to her achievements in the military and academia, she has left a lasting impact on the patients and students she has served. It’s our job to help [patients] and help them with their care. Because empathy and compassion are at the root of what we do. Our job, our profession, is in the service of others.
How Luke supports professionals
About Luke Luke, the driving force behind AchieveCE, has embarked on a journey to revolutionize continuing education for healthcare professionals with a deep understanding of the industry’s pain points and a commitment to providing valuable and relevant learning experiences. Luke’s involvement with AchieveCE began in early 2017 when two healthcare professionals approached him for assistance in developing a strategic business plan. Recognizing the opportunity to make a difference in continuing education, Luke eagerly took on the challenge. “As a natural entrepreneur, of course, that caught my attention. How can this be done better? I found myself starting to dig, just starting to prod and poke around a little bit.” Motivated by a survey conducted across the country, Luke identified two key pain points among healthcare professionals. Professionals felt like the content of their courses was repetitive and did not contribute to growth or excitement. Luke firmly believed that continuing education should focus on keeping professionals up-to-date with the latest developments in their field rather than revisiting old knowledge. “If it’s their continuing education, it should be fun, exciting, and vibrant. It should be something they look forward to. Who doesn’t enjoy learning about the interesting and trending development within the professional field?” AchieveCE adopted a data-driven approach to address this, offering trending topics and candid insights to ensure professionals were equipped with the most relevant information. The second pain point centered around the administrative burden associated with the renewal process. Healthcare professionals often spend as much time on administrative tasks associated with the renewal process as on actual learning. Recognizing the need for simplification and efficiency, AchieveCE streamlined the renewal experience by offering curated renewal packages. These packages were tailored to meet the specific requirements of licensing boards, combining mandatory courses with trending topics. The approach kept professionals up-to-date and minimized the time and effort required for renewal. We hope to be able to support professionals both through meaningful education that ideally keeps them up to date and keeps them well prepared to face the challenges within their practices. How has Propelus helped? Throughout AchieveCE’s journey, Luke partnered with CE Broker by Propelus, recognizing their shared goals of simplifying the renewal experience and providing valuable education. By maintaining a proactive approach and anticipated future demands, AchieveCE aimed to support CE Broker’s growth plans while delivering quality content to healthcare professionals. Luke’s passion for improving continuing education in healthcare stems from personal experiences and a desire to address existing gaps in the system. Witnessing a close friend, a nurse, express frustration with the lackluster and mundane nature of online courses, Luke recognized the need for change. By leveraging digital platforms and focusing on healthcare, Luke found an industry that aligned with his values and allowed him to make a meaningful impact. Beyond their partnership, AchieveCE and CE Broker have joined forces to give back to the healthcare community. By offering recognition and meaningful education, they aim to support and honor the tireless efforts of healthcare professionals. “There are lots of opportunities to be able to give recognition to healthcare professionals that they often deserve but don’t necessarily often receive. Our healthcare professionals certainly are the industry that, in a very personal way, keeps really effective all other industries going. Through AchieveCE’s innovative approach and collaboration with CE Broker, Luke is making a significant impact on the lives of healthcare professionals. “We hope to be able to support professionals both through meaningful ways of giving back as well as meaningful education that ideally keeps them ups to date and keeps them prepared to face the challenges within their practices.
How Helen embraces her true passion
About Helen Despite facing challenges and embracing a late-in-life career, Helen’s unwavering passion for helping others made her a remarkable healthcare professional. Helen’s career trajectory was anything but conventional. After years of working in various fields, she found herself in a new chapter of her life, seeking a deeper purpose. “I knew that I loved working with people, and I love problem-solving.” Helen began a new career with unwavering determination and pursued her social worker dream. At the age of 60, she obtained her master’s degree from Barry University, marking the beginning of a thirty-year career dedicated to serving others. “I applied for a scholarship at Barry University, which was not a needs scholarship. The scholarship application was about why I wanted to become a social worker, and I got it.” As a social worker, Helen understood the importance of staying updated with qualifications and licensure requirements for her triennial license renewal with the complexity of tracking and managing continuing education credits. Yesterday I saw my last patient for the last time. I will be 91 years old on the 19th of March and officially retired as of March 31st. Thank you for making this wonderful career possible. How has Propelus helped? With CE Broker by Propelus, Helen no longer had to spend excessive time and energy on paperwork and tracking, allowing her to focus on what truly mattered – the well-being of her patients. The platform’s intuitive interface and advanced features gave her the streamlined approach to managing her continuing education requirements. “CE Broker helped me keep me organized in terms of licensure requirements. This really solved that problem for me, that I didn’t have to keep track of everything.” The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic forced Helen and countless other professionals to adapt to new ways of providing care. As physical offices transitioned to virtual spaces, Helen initially felt uncertain about the change. However, with time, she embraced the online practice and discovered its unique rewards. “When COVID hit, we were in an office and then transitioned to online. At first, I wasn’t comfortable with it, but then I loved it. After our office had to close, I continued with BetterHelp.” As Helen’s 30-year social work career progressed, her impact on individual lives became her greatest reward. Her problem-solving approach and cognitive behavioral therapy techniques helped clients overcome challenges, save marriages, and change their lives. Her commitment to her clients resonated deeply, fueling her passion and providing a profound sense of fulfillment. Helping people solve problems quickly was really very rewarding for me when people said, “You changed my life, or you were saved a marriage or anything or like that. It was very fulfilling and very rewarding.”
